2008 - Season of Goodwill - HNF-Wen Ken Active Swim

Held at the Clementi Swimming Complex, the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of laps swam in 6 hours was broken with an astounding 14,159 laps swam! The last record was 7,026 laps held by Anglo Chinese School students at the TYR ACS (Independent) on 5 April 2008. Therefore, the record was broken by more than 7133 laps, literally exceeded 100%

Over 200 swimmers participated in the swim which started at 9am and finished at 3pm. Age of swimmers range from as young as 9 years old  to as old as 80 years old . Another about 600 spectators, many of them are elderly citizens, came to cheer on the swimmers. Many swimmers clocked over 100 laps, however, twelve year old Shawn Lim clocked 204 laps, the most number of laps swam by an individual in this event.
 
There were three swim categories to launch the event. The first was the Star Swim category. This category was swum by celebrities – Mr Bernard Tan, Mr Timothy Ngah & Ms Wu Shu Xian; former Singapore Olympians -  Mr Oon Jin Teik (CEO of Singapore Sports Council) & Mr Oon Jin Gee (Honorary Secretary of Singapore Swimming Association) and former national swimmers – Mr Jeffrey Leow (President of Singapore Swimming Association), Ms Grace Cheong (Vice President of Singapore Swimming Association) & Mr Mark Chay.
 
The second was the Corporate Swim category followed by the Senior Swim category swam by some eleven over 50 year old seniors.
 
In this current financial crisis, we are very pleased to be able to raise over $200,000 meeting our fundraising target. The money raised will be used to support the operation of Home Nursing Foundation as well as for community projects.
