Introduction
The Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) was set up on 2 October 1976 by Dr Toh Chin Chye, then deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health to address the urgent need for cost-effective home nursing services to serve the large numbers of elderly coping with ailments living in the rural areas.
With a team of experienced and caring nurses, HNF delivers professional home nursing services that enable our beneficiaries to remain in the community with their loved ones. Our services include wound dressing, changing of feeding tubes and urinary catheters, stoma care and administration of injections.
With the mission to contribute to the needy elderly in the community, we serve patients from all walks of life regardless of their ability to pay for our services. Hence, we continually involve the community through active aging and health promotion initiatives to raise funds and subsidise the cost of providing long term care to our patients. The support of our generous sponsors and donors remains vital in enabling us to continue our mission and realize our vision.
Charity Status
The Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) was registered as a voluntary welfare organisation in accordance with Sub-section (5) of Section 4 of the Societies Act (Chapter 262) on 2 October 1976, and as an Exempt Charity under Section 5 (4) of the Charities Act 1982 (Act 20 of 1982) with The Commissioner of Charities on 20 December 1982.
Although HNF is a full member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), it is not funded by the Community Chest. Therefore, the funding for operating expenditure is derived from public donations, service fees from clients and subvention from the Ministry of Health.
Since September 1996, HNF has been a member of the Health Endowment Fund (a gazetted Institution of Public Character) administered by the Ministry of Health, therefore, all donations to HNF are tax-exempt.
