(SENIOR) NURSE MANAGER

Job responsibilities:

  • Ensure the value of nursing activities in HNF (Nursing), including scheduling, competency assessments, clinical audit, training, performance management, and staff development to deliver cost-effective standards of care and patient safety.
  • Create a safe and motivating environment with high levels of engagement and teamwork;
  • New Service development; support staff in the development of skills and services relevant to the patients and clients’ needs.
  • Staff Management
    • Provide guidance, feedback and opportunities for collaboration to nurture strengths, correct weaknesses, and promote growth.
    • Oversee the professional conduct of the nurses including punctuality, dress code and code of conduct.
    • Monitor workload and recommends appropriate staffing levels to best meet organizational and patient’s needs.
    • Maintain communication platform including but not limited to Departmental meeting, Nurse Clinician meeting, roll call.
    • Orientate new staff and assign preceptors for induction. Conduct evaluation of the effectiveness of the orientation programme and preceptors.
    • Ensure that clinical competencies assessment for nurses is being carried out in a timely manner.
    • Performance appraisals, counselling, coaching and handling of disciplinary issues.
  • Operational Management
    • Coordinate the staffing plan to ensure operational efficiency including roster for extended hours for Nursing Emergency service.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the units within the Nursing Department. Ensures that all personnel are trained, supervised and evaluated.
    • Oversee nurses performing Centre Based Nursing duties at HNF Wellness Centre and ensure manpower coverage when nurses go on leave.
    • Collaborates with administrative staff to ensure seamless work processes in adherence to policies and procedures that support compliance with regulatory and billing guidelines.
  • Professional Development
    • Identify education needs and develops strategies to implement educational methodologies.
    • Supervise the planning of Nursing In-service programme; including identifying learning needs, plan for topics and evaluation of speakers and learning outcomes.
  • Resource Management
    • Capital and operational budget development. Monitor and evaluate budget utilization and cost-effective use of resources.
    • Inventory management of fixed assets
    • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of medical equipment for patient safety.
  • Quality Management
    • Monitor performance indicators and outcomes to reflect the scope of service provided. Identify and rectify gaps in performance.
    • Ensures adherence to infection control measures and utilize standard precautions and proper waste disposal.
    • Ensures competency of staff in operating, maintenance and upgrading of departmental equipment.
    • Investigate feedback/complaint and resolution for service recovery. Identify system and personnel-related issues and recommend solutions.
  • Research / Quality Improvement
    • Foster an environment of professional inquiry by identifying opportunities for conducting nursing research / quality improvement projects.
    • Incorporate research and quality assurance strategies to evaluate clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
    • Participate in and champion process improvement projects.
  • Work with administrative staff to plan for community development and fundraising events
  • Assist CEO in special projects.

Job specifications:

  • Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board
  • For Senior Nurse Manager:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience working in healthcare or community care setting in similar capacity
    • Experienced in managing middle-level Nurse Leaders
  • For Nurse Manager:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working in health or community care setting in similar capacity.
  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in relevant nursing specialities preferably in Gerontology will be advantageous.
  • Ability to analyze situations and to take appropriate actions confidently and independently.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience in leading quality improvement and research projects.
