50 Years of Home Care in Singapore

For 50 years, Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) has been bringing care beyond hospital walls and into the homes and communities of those who need it most.

What began in 1976 as a home nursing service has grown into one of Singapore’s leading home and community care providers. From caring for patients in kampungs and HDB estates to delivering integrated healthcare, active ageing programmes and caregiver support today, HNF has continually evolved to meet the nation’s changing healthcare needs.

While our services have expanded, our purpose has remained the same: to empower every individual to live with dignity, purpose and joy.

Today, our nurses, healthcare professionals, staff, volunteers, partners and caregivers continue this legacy — bringing compassionate, person-centred home care closer to families and communities across Singapore, for generations to come.

Our Milestones: HNF’s Journey Since 1976

From our founding in 1976 to becoming a leading provider of integrated home and community care, every milestone reflects our commitment to improving lives across Singapore.

• 1976 — Home Nursing Foundation established

• 1986 — First Senior Citizens’ Health Care Centre (SCHCC) set up, offering rehabilitative and day-care services alongside HNF’s core home nursing service

• 1994 — Independent Living Centre (ILC) established at Alexandra Hospital, allowing elderly patients and caregivers to try the latest home-care equipment and aids

• 2004 — HNF became an Independent Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) on 1 April

• 2014 — Brand refreshed with a new logo and the promise “Embracing you with all-round support”; HNF SG50 Exhibition held in conjunction with Singapore’s 50th year of independence

• 2019 — HNF’s first senior care centre, HNF Day Care at Hougang, opens at Hougang Community Club, offering general and dementia daycare programmes

• 2020 – Launched HNF Wellness at Buangkok while expanding community care during the COVID-19 pandemic

• 2021 –  Held first Caregiving Conference, strengthening support for caregivers

• 2024 – Introduced Integrated Home Healthcare (IHH), CREST, and the Carers’ Hub digital portal to advance integrated home and community care

• 2025 – HNF the inaugural Age Well Championships. Additionally, the Age Well Conference was also held on the same day

• 2026 — HNF celebrates 50 years of home care in Singapore
